The school first opened at 2610 Elgin Street, where it established a legacy of academic excellence and community leadership. Yates relocated to 3703 Sampson Street to accommodate a growing student population. In 2018, the school moved to its current state-of-the-art campus at 3650 Alabama Street.
John Henry "Jack" Yates(July 11, 1828 – December 22, 1897) was born in 1828 to enslaved parents in Virginia, Yates acquired more knowledge than most youngsters in bondage. (READ MORE)
